• What is it?

The Fife Demo Project 2015 is an initiative organised and delivered by s9fifty. It has been jointly funded by s9fifty and Creative Scotland through the Youth Music Initiative.

The aim of the project is to give seven young bands or artists from across Fife the opportunity to record a demo CD of original material using professional facilities FOR FREE.

  • What's involved?

You will get to rehearse, record and produce your own demo cd in a professional studio environment. You will receive 20 physical copies on CD with the option to get more direct from the factory at any time in the future. We will also get your music published online so you can reach a worldwide audience. We will supply transport for all members of the band to and from each studio session.

You will firstly work with music professionals across three four hour assisted rehearsal sessions in order to prepare you for the recording process.

Each recording will take place over two and a half days comprising of two ten hour recording sessions in the studio followed by a 5 hour mixing session. You will work with a producer and an engineer using the very latest studio recording technology.

You will also work with a design team to create an artwork package for your demo.

There will be an all day event held at Fife College for all participating band members to take part in. This session will cover topics such as PRS, Musicians Union, finding management, securing gigs, tour logistics and careers and further education opportunities within the music industry.

  • Who decides?

The projects advisory committee will select seven bands or artists from the applications received to take part in the project. The committee is looking for applications where they feel the artists will benefit most from this opportunity. They are not looking for the most accomplished musicians.

The advisory committee will make a decision on who will take part by 10/12/2015.

All bands that apply will be notified of whether or not they have been selected by the 12/12/2015. (It will be the lead person on the application that will be contacted)
